The chain, which was founded in 1862, saw all but one of its shops shut it 2005 after running into financial difficulties.

It was bought out the same year by Harold Tillman, who also owns fashion chain Jaeger, although only one store, in Croydon, remained open.

The Croydon shop is the fourth largest department store in the country.

Now, after six years spent restoring profits, the store's owners has reopened online.
